JFK’s Attribute

I am not ashamed to say
I died that day with JFK
I sat before the TV dazed
My innocence he’d set ablaze
Faltered as his head had slumped
Ideals from my heart had pumped
A boy no longer, a man too soon
Life and death one solemn tune
An empty heart was left to pine
For all that I’d once thought was mine
His death somehow had set me free
To journey far away and back to me
